Earnest Duren Council No.77 of The Knights of Pythagoras

In September of 1983 Worshipful Master Eugene Neal called a special meeting with the
brethren to organize a Knights of Pythagoras council. Brothers present were: Worshipful
Master Eugene Neal, Junior Warden James Harrell, James jones, Roger Brown and
Richard Rankin. Also in attendance were three parents, Ms. Laura Funderburke, Ms.
Carolyn Hamilton and Ms. Dorothy Watkins. Boys present were; Cedric Dean, Elton
Hamilton, Everett Watkins, Allah Funderburke, Alfonson Sykes, Carlos Funderburke and
Nathaniel Hamilton.
Brother Roger Brown was appointed Chairman of the Board of the regional and Richard
Rankin was appointed advisor to the boys. Ernest Duren Council was named by
Worshipful Master Eugene Neal after one of our loyal and faithful brothers who went
from labor to reward. The first officers serving the council were: Master Knight Robert
Easterling, Senior Knight Everett Watkins, Junior Knight Carlos Funderburke and
Secretary Brandon Martin.
Ernest Duren Council # 77 was charted on July 28, 1984, in the city of Greensboro NC.
